The benefits of a good workout are more than just physical; studies show it promotes physical health and mental health. It's said it even reverses aging. A strength training regime has an added advantage over regular cardio, not that later is useless adding weights to your session increases the output of your efforts, reduces time, you burn more calories and gain more muscle at the same time. Most of us do not have the time to visit the gym regularly, and some of us cannot even afford it in our busy lives.
We could, however, get the same benefits of a weight training regime at home without the gym using Resistance bands/Exercise bands. They work in the same way as average free weights do.
Benefits of using resistance/exercise bands
- They provide the
muscles with the same intensity of workouts at the lower application of
force. Even though you get more or less the same benefits from using them,
getting injured is a lot less as the forces applied are significantly
reduced, which is especially true for people in physical therapy who are
going through rehabilitation.
- Incredible workout for the muscles
because free weights depend a lot on the body's position with the force of
gravity. Still, the resistance bands offer a continuously applied linear
force throughout the motion irrespective of any gravitational force on the
muscle group.
- Focus on the core
set of muscles without cheating; the force of resistance is constant
through the entire motion, so the force applied is the same when flexing
and contracting; this prevents the muscle group from cheating and gives a
better activation to the muscle.
- They can be
adjusted to different levels to increase or decrease the level of
intensity for speed and strength building. You could even use multiple
bands for higher intensity. As a result, it dramatically enhances the
workout and is more effective than using bulky weights.
- They offer more
exercise options due to their flexibility, which means more bang for your
buck. You could use the same bands for different sets of muscles.
- As I said in the
beginning, they are inexpensive and carried and stowed away so you can
take them with you as you travel and never have to miss out on training.
- They are ideal for rehabilitation. Some are going through a physical recovery process after an injury is safe to use.
One cannot overlook the benefits of
exercising, but it takes it to the next level. Regular working out not only
keeps us in shape but also keeps us healthy. Keeps us disease-free and
motivates us.
